Below are a number of resources which may help you and your weight management. Please note, any resource with a (*) denotes a subscription may be required to access the full package.

Exercise Based Resources

There apps or programmes may help you get more active. There are lots of different options and forms of exercise.

  • Couch to 5k app - An NHS based training plan for absolute beginners helping to get you jogging 5k in just 9 weeks.
  • NHS Fitness Studio - exercise videos including aerobics exercise, strength and resistance, and pilates and yoga.
  • NHS 10 minute work-outs - These equipment-free fitness routines are great to do at home and short enough for you to easily fit them into your daily schedule.
  • NHS Strength and Flex Podcasts - The NHS 5 week plan consists of a series of equipment free exercises designed to improve your strength and flexibility.
  • NHS Active 10 app - Active 10 is a free and easy to use walking app that tracks your walking and shows you how you can increase your intensity to benefit your health.
  • NHS 12 week fitness plan programme. - This activity plan for beginners, combining running and strength and flexibility workouts, will get you into the habit of regular exercise in 12 weeks. 
  • Fiit App -  fitness app for a wide range of online exercise classes, ranging from HIT to yoga. Also includes personal fitness tracker.  
  • Our Parks (home work out videos) – youtube channel and programmes as below.
    • Couch to Fitness programme - This 9 week programme brings you an effective series of 3 workouts a week to gradually build up your physical fitness from scratch.
    • Couch to Bhangra - an at-home 4 week dance exercise plan for beginners.
    • Couch to Family Fit - an at-home 4 week exercise plan for beginners involving activities suitable in the home for all the family.
  • Popsugar - (home work out videos) Free home fitness videos available.
  • Body Coach - (home work out videos). Joe Wicks home work-out videos available. Also has fitness app of which subscription is required.*.
  • Les Mills - Number of free home work out videos, requires subscription for full package.
  • Move GB -  live streaming and on-demand home work out videos, subscription required.

  • Dance for Parkinson’s – online dance classes tailored for people living with Parkinson's. Classes are streamed online and there are also home exercise videos available.
  • Rosemary Conley – Chair-based exercise videos ideal for those with physical restrictions or limited mobility but wish to maintain or build their fitness.
  • How to lose weight in a wheelchair - NHS webpage with advice and guidance on managing your weight in a wheelchair.
  • Activity Alliance - A charity dedicated to improving access to activity and healthy lifestyles in disabled people. Website also has exercise advice and workouts.
  • Wheelpower – a national charity providing opportunities for disabled people to engage in exercise and sport, website also has workout videos including yoga.

Running

Exercise Based Local Resources

  • Walking for Health – locally organised group walks in Cleobury Mortimer, Cleehill, Ditton Priors, Kidderminster.
  • Park Run –  free, weekly, community events where you can walk jog or run 5k, taking place at Kidderminster and Ludlow
  • Man V Fat - a football league exclusively for overweight men who want to lose weight, nearest local team is Kidderminster. Also a website with lots of ideas on how to lose weight and easy-listening motivating podcasts to support you on your journey.

Diet Based Resources

These apps or programmes may be helpful for you in trying to eat more healthily.

  • NHS easy meals app - The free Easy Meals app is a great way to eat foods and recipes that are healthier. 
  • Surprising 100 calorie snacks - NHS webpage useful for getting ideas on healthier snacks.
  • Change 4 Life website -helping families with fun ideas to stay healthy, whether with easy recipes for busy weeknights, great sugar swaps, games to get moving.
  • Change 4 Life Food scanner app brings food labels to life and helps you make healthier choices. Simply scan the barcode to see how much sugar, saturated fat and salt is in everyday food and drink. 
  • Drink free days app - Feel healthier, lose weight and save money by picking your days to go drink-free. One simple way to cut down is to have at least a few drink-free days every week, this app can help you with this.
  • Noom - The psychology based weight loss programme that teaches healthy habits and endeavours to help you to make better choices.

Local Resources:

  • Overeaters Anonymous - A charity running meetings in Worcester and Shrewsbury providing discussions and support for those with problems of compulsive eating.
